Through our\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Preparing Speakers<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0coaching program, we prepare the speakers who take that stage<\/span>\u2014<\/span>helping business services leaders turn technical\u00a0<\/span>expertise<\/span>\u00a0into confident, compelling presentations in front of\u00a0<\/span>hundreds<\/span>\u00a0of\u00a0<\/span>their\u00a0<\/span>peers. That decade of cooperation with\u00a0<\/span><\/span>ABSL<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0gave us a front-row seat to something we wanted to put a number on:\u00a0<\/span><\/span>which soft skills does the sector\u00a0<\/span>actually keep<\/span>\u00a0asking for, year after year?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

So<\/span>\u00a0we read all ten of ABSL’s annual\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/span>Business Services Sector in Poland<\/span><\/span><\/em>\u00a0reports, from 2017 through 2026, and pulled out every mention of skills, competencies, and talent priorities. The pattern is clear, and it<\/span>\u2019<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>just what you would expect<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Short Answer<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Poland’s business services sector has spent a decade moving from a\u00a0<\/span>language-and-cost<\/span><\/b>\u00a0advantage to a\u00a0<\/span>capability-and-cognition<\/span><\/b>\u00a0advantage. Language skills and technical\u00a0know-how\u00a0still matter, but the competencies that show up most consistently\u2014and rank highest\u2014across ten years of employer surveys are:\u00a0<\/span>critical thinking, emotional intelligence, leadership, adaptability, and communication.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0In the most recent editions, these are no longer framed as\u00a0\u201cnice to have\u201d\u2014organizations\u00a0explicitly fund\u00a0them\u00a0as reskilling priorities alongside AI training.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

  1. Critical thinking and emotional intelligence are the most durable
    <\/b>These two competencies first appear by name in the 2021 report and, by 2024, become the\u00a0top hiring criteria<\/span><\/b>\u00a0for both junior and senior roles in the sector\u2014ranked ahead of technical qualifications (<\/span>ABSL 2024<\/span><\/a>, pp 199\u2013202<\/span>). By 2025,\u00a0they’re\u00a0formally written into the sector\u2019s\u00a0\u201cskills for the AI era\u201d\u00a0framework, positioned as the human counterweight to automation (<\/span>ABSL 2025<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0pg\u00a0124<\/span>).<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

    1. Leadership is the gap that isn’t closing<\/span><\/b>
      <\/span>Back in 2022, leadership ranked #3\u00a0(at 43.9%)\u00a0among competencies that would be needed by 2027 (ABSL 2022<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0pg\u00a0164<\/span>). By 2025, ABSL’s own data shows\u00a0\u201cleadership is not keeping pace,\u201d\u00a0with open-mindedness and creative thinking,\u00a0cited by 62.7% of respondents as the top leadership barrier, and\u00a0strategic decision-making, which was\u00a0named by 46.1% as the main gap preventing\u00a0Poland-based professionals from reaching global roles (<\/span>ABSL 2025<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0pp\u00a0110\u2013111<\/span>). Ten years in, leadership development is still the sector’s unfinished business.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

      1. Flexibility and adaptability survive every rebrand
        <\/span><\/b>Named as\u00a0\u201cagile ways of working\u201d\u00a0in 2018,\u00a0flexibility and adaptability\u00a0ranked\u00a0as\u00a0the #1 desired employee attitude in 2022 at 69.5% (        ABSL 2022<\/span><\/a>, pp 16\u201317, 160<\/span>), paired with emotional intelligence in the 2025\u00a0\u201csoft skills\u201d\u00a0category, and reappearing in 2026 as\u00a0one of the\u00a0reskilling targets\u00a0(<\/span>ABSL 2026<\/span><\/a>, pp 139\u2013141<\/span>)\u2014adaptability is the one skill every framing change keeps.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

        1. The talent shortage never disappears\u2014it just changes shape
          <\/span><\/b>Every single year names a talent constraint. But by 2026, ABSL describes the shift precisely: the sector is moving\u00a0\u201cfrom scarcity to skills mismatch,\u201d\u00a0with location decisions now prioritizing\u00a0\u201cskill mix and expertise over cost alone\u201d\u00a0(          ABSL 2026<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0pg\u00a0111<\/span>). The problem\u00a0of talent shortage\u00a0was never solved\u2014it was redefined\u00a0by focusing on location.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

          1. Companies are funding soft skills as AI\u2019s necessary complement
            <\/span><\/b>This is the clearest shift in the newest reports. The 2025 report states plainly:\u00a0\u201ccompanies need to focus on technical\u00a0and<\/span><\/b>\u00a0soft skills to truly harness AI’s potential\u2026 adaptability, emotional intelligence, and creativity will allow employees to work alongside AI effectively\u201d\u00a0(<\/span>            ABSL 2025<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0pg\u00a0124, 128<\/span>). By 2026, this is measurable: reskilling budgets are already split between hard AI skills (prompt engineering, data analytics) and soft skills (client communication, problem-solving, adaptability) (<\/span>ABSL 2026<\/span><\/a>, pp 129,\u00a0139\u2013141<\/span>).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

            Why This Matters If You Lead People in the Sector<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

            If your organization is still budgeting soft skills training as a\u00a0\u201cnice-to-have\u201d\u00a0(or a \u201cfirst to cut\u201d)\u00a0line item, the data says otherwise: 90% of Polish employers are already moving toward skills-based hiring (<\/span>ABSL 2025<\/span><\/a>, pp 131\u2013132<\/span>), and\u00a0reskilling programs are being\u00a0budgeted\u00a0with soft skills built in from day one, not added afterward.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

            This is exactly the\u00a0gap\u00a0Accent Business Training exists to close.
